A request for reconsideration.

I'm concerned about my SDA brethren: I consider Seventh Day Adventists to be a bright candle on a hill. Yet I fear they hold to [traditional] doctrine, which when that time comes, and they are questioned and scrutinized before '...kings and rulers...' on what their beliefs are, they will fail to make clear.
1843-'44 was promoted by Miller, a [ex?] 33rd degree Freemason, as the day of the coming of Christ. Miller's prophecy failed (a false prophet as described by scripture), and after subsequent failed redatings, 22 October 1844 was re-interpreted by Samuel S. Snow to be the day Christ moved into the Most Holy in the Heavenly Tabernacle.

SDA's present that Daniel 9 is a continuation of Daniel 8, and that therefore the 2300 evenings and mornings mentioned in Daniel 8, which SDA's consider to be the time from 457BC - 1844AD, are linked to the 70 weeks of Daniel 9. This position is taken from an interpretation of scripture that 70 weeks were 'cut off' from the 2300 evenings and mornings .

The scripture used to defend this position is quoted:
(Daniel 9:24) Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.
The word determined is replaced with the alternative Strong's word cut off, and thereby it is concluded that the 70 weeks are cut off from the 2300 evenings and mornings. Thus the 2300 evenings and mornings commence from 457BC, the start of the 70 weeks.

Taken from the Great Controversy:
"...The word here translated “determined,” literally signifies “cut off.” Seventy weeks, representing 490 years, are declared by the angel to be cut off, as specially pertaining to the Jews. But from what were they cut off? As the 2300 days was the only period of time mentioned in chapter eight, it must be the period from which the seventy weeks were cut off; the seventy weeks must therefore be a part of the 2300 days, and the two periods must begin together. The seventy weeks were declared by the angel to date from the going forth of the commandment to restore and build Jerusalem. If the date of this commandment could be found, then the starting-point for the great period of the 2300 days would be ascertained...."
- GC326.1

"...specifically pertaining to the jews..Cut off from what?..."
Cut off from God! Cut down by The Axe at the stoning of Stephen!

I leave it to all to discern and decide for themselves whether this is doctrine with a firm foundation.

It is presented that the angel in Daniel 9 proceeds with explaining the 2300 evenings and mornings (from Daniel 8) because Daniel fainted at the end of Daniel 8, and the angel was thus unable to conclude the explaining of the vision of Daniel 8. [Is it not that he fainted because he understood the vision?] It is thereby concluded, that because Daniel (in Daniel 9) was contemplating the prophecy in Daniel 8, the angel came to 'give him understanding'. Reading Daniel 9:1-..., we find that Daniel is contemplating the prophecy of Jeremiah, and in so doing comes into supplication before God, asking for the forgiveness of his sins and that of his people. It is after this that the angel comes to 'give him understanding'.

If you study the little horns of Daniel 7 and 8, you will find that they are not generated out of the same king[dom]. It is more likely that the little horn in Daniel 8 is a [short lived] type of the king[dom] which would come some time after him: In the same manner as The king of Tyre is spoken of, as if satan himself; The Dragon and the Beast.

Jeremiah's 70 years were a literal 70 years, is it not possible that the 2300 evenings and mornings are literal days? I present, that in some cases, time in prophecy is given literally. If you research the 2nd beast of Daniel 8, you will find a historic application for 2300 literal evenings and mornings , as opposed to 2300 prophetic days.

The original date set of 1843-'44 was set by a false prophet, and reinterpreted to be understood as the day Christ went into the Most Holy. It is interesting to note the outcome of this error in students of the bible, causing them to take note of, and study the Mosaic law: Bringing understanding about the tabernacle and its importance as a shadow of Christ Jesus. I pray you will study in truthfulness and earnestness from scripture, to conclude for yourself on this matter. I personally find this doctrine to be on par with that of shifting the 70th week of Daniel to the end of time, in the manner in which it blatantly ignores all surrounding scriptural context. Yet i'll say again, it has been instrumental in bringing clearer understanding on the shadow and its caster, the type and anti-type. It has cast more light than it has occulted. Truly God has used this minor smudge to his glory. Amen!

Satan launched an all out attack on Christianity in the mid 19th century, because of the many truths that were being revealed and held up high by students of the bible. This attack is not only seen from within the Christian circles, but from secular and occult circles. It does not surprise me that such an attack would have been launched on the protestant awakening in America, so as to poison the pure doctrine which was being revealed..

I beseech you to search out this matter, study to show yourself approved.
